Is the Anti-Aging Fight a Losing Battle?

Don't grow old gracefully, today's modern technology combined to make it easy not to. You can now use synthetic alternatives, or go to fancy salons. Or just fight the fight at home front with all the new products available. Many people, men as well as women, try to delay the ravages of time by using any means or products they can to prevent it.

Human bodies consist primarily of water. Replenish the water in your body frequently for a great idea in the anti-aging fight. Maintain your level of liquids in the body at all times to maintain overall health. Nothing is youthful as healthy looking skin. Keep this moisture in your body for a skin that's soft and supple. Dry skin ages our features like nothing else can. Nutritionists recommend drink eight 8-oz glasses of water a day in order to keep our body amply moisturized.

Moisturizing your face is a great idea, especially if you use a product that contains SPF 15 or higher. Make it a point to moisturize every morning in order to avoid dry, dull skin that's far more likely to start the wrinkling process before its time. This can - and should - be done by men and women alike. After all, aging knows no bias.

Exercise is extremely important in the anti-aging process. Many people do not realize how important. A body that is fit looks younger, has good circulation and good skin tone and appearance. When your health is good, you have good immune system, and you stabilize your blood sugar levels while lowering your cholesterol and blood pressure. These give a healthy, youthful appearance. Exercise also strengthens bone density. Stand straight and tall, and you will always look ten years younger.

Lack of sleep can cause the aging process to become more rapid. Without the proper amount of rest each night, all of your body's systems feel the strain and the result can be that you'll age faster than you might otherwise. Bags under the eyes, memory loss, lethargy and a depressed immune system are all symptoms of a body that's growing older. When you suffer from the lack of necessary sleep, all of these indicators come into play and, even if they don't ultimately age your body in a more literal sense, will certainly give you the appearance of someone who's years beyond your actual age.

Today's emphasis on having a thin body has a negative aspect in the fight to appear younger. A little weight will make your face appear fuller, thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles. A thin face shows all the ravages aging much more than a fuller one. Besides wrinkles showing, bone loss in the cheek and jaw will make your face appear drawn and aged. This kind of a face will look much older than one which is fuller. We don't advise overeating in order to plump up your wrinkles, but the emphasis on being rail thin is not going to help the appearance of your face.

A simple philosophy of healthy eating should do the trick.

The healthiest attitude that you can adopt is that everyone grows old, like it or not - and there's nothing wrong with doing so gracefully. If you haven't been able to achieve this particular mindset, however, taking care of yourself and hoping for strong genetics that will provide a youthful appearance is your best approach.

Watch Out For These Essential Oil Traps:

  • Never use pure essential oils on the skin (neat). Dilute them with a carrier or disperse in water.
  • Never take orally unless under the supervision of a doctor.
  • If you are pregnant, AVOID, oils of aniseed, basil, clary sage, cedarwood, cinnamon, clove, hyssop, jasmine, juniper, marjoram, myrrh, pennyroyal, sage, thyme, fennel, peppermint, rose or rosemary.
  • Bergamot and citrus oils cause your skin to become sun sensitive, so avoid sunbathing when using.
  • Keep all oils out of reach of children.
  • When adding pure essential oils to bath, disperse (move water with your hands) before getting in. If the oils "puddle" where you are getting in, they may irritate the skin.
  • Essential oils are potent. A few drops do a lot.
  • Because allergic reactions can occur with any herbal or botanical ingredient, any preparation should be tested in a small area of the skin before using.
  • If using a homeopathic remedy check with your homeopathic physician before using. Some oils may counteract your treatments.
