Body Sprays

Hydrosols also known as flower waters, hydroflorates or distillates are products from the direct steam distillation of whole plant materials. When essential oils are produced by steam or water distillation not all of the aromatic and healing principles held within the plant are actually captured in the oil. Certain components are hydrophilic, which mean they dissolve into water and this becomes a hydrosol. Hydrosols are filled with the water soluble nutrients that were part of the plant’s immune system. Unlike their “essential oil added to water” counterparts, true steam distilled hydrosols contain all the beneficial components that whole plant materials have to offer, and are more true to their scent.

Hydrosols have a strong scent, strong taste, are normally clear like water but have a pH of less than 5.5. Hydrosols are only the first 25 — 50% of the watery distillate.

They are moisturizing, fragrant, cooling and contain similar properties as essential oils but in much less concentration, which makes them a lovely alternative to those with sensitivities. The gentleness of a hydrosol, in comparison with the equivalent essential oil, permits a wider range of use on those who are very ill, infants, children, elderly, and pets. They are wonderful and inexpensive as a facial and body splash to condition and tone after cleansing, as a deodorant, an air freshener, as a base in your body care recipes, and in culinary creations. Also, hydrosols are wonderful for travel! Use for air travel to remoisturize skin. Keep in your purse, at the office, or in the refrigerator for a refreshing lift during the day. Perfect for lightly scenting clothing and linens.
